There are steps that both the surrogate and intended parents should take to ensure they are ready for the delivery.
1. Before they get to the delivery, the intended parents should discuss whether they are going to be present for the birth. Many intended parents like to be present, and this should be worked out ahead of time.

2.Which hospital will the surrogate deliver at and what will they need when they get there? It’s important to be prepared and find out how the delivery process works.

3. What happens after birth? Who holds the baby first? Will the baby be breastfed? These are important details to think through before getting to the final stage.

4. What will the surrogate need for the recovery? Sometimes intended parents like to give gifts or help out while the surrogate is healing.
