Surrogacy for heterosexuals

Many heterosexual couples face challenges on their way to becoming parents. Fertility problems can force them to give up on natural pregnancy and choose surrogacy. This decision is complex and involves a personal and marital process of acceptance.

In recent decades, legal changes and advances in fertility treatment have increased the possibility of realizing the dream of parenthood through surrogacy.
Today, heterosexual parents-to-be can choose from several surrogacy paths, with each path having different characteristics, advantages and challenges.

Since 2008, Tammuz family has been helping expectant parents and offering safe and accessible surrogacy programs with accompaniment and support throughout the journey.

Tammuz family offers various programs suitable for heterosexuals in Georgia, USA, Ukraine, Israel, Argentina and Mexico. Each country has different laws and the destination should be carefully examined according to the intended parents’ situation.

Georgia: Heterosexual couples who are married or manage a joint household for a year can go through a surrogacy procedure in Georgia and choose a path that suits them:

A customized existing embryo program that includes, among other things, legal support in Georgia – locating, screening and testing the surrogate, signing a contract with a surrogate, embryo transfer, a complete pregnancy protocol and issuing a birth certificate.

A guaranteed plan until birth (with egg donation) that includes an unlimited number of egg donations, embryo transfers and a number of surrogate matches until birth, a complete pregnancy protocol and legal services including a contract with the surrogate and the issuance of birth certificates.

USA: Tammuz’s routes in the USA offer surrogacy solutions at affordable costs and uncompromising quality. The intended parents can choose between:

A customized existing embryo program – which includes, among other things, legal accompaniment in the USA, locating, screening and testing of the surrogate, embryo transfer, pregnancy protocol and issuance of a birth certificate.

A guaranteed plan (including egg donation) until birth that includes an unlimited number of egg donations, embryo transfer and a number of surrogate matches until birth, a complete pregnancy protocol and legal services including a contract with the surrogate and the issuance of a birth certificate.

Ukraine: Surrogacy in Ukraine is legal for married heterosexual couples who cannot conceive naturally. In this route you can choose between: a basic plan (without egg donation, with an existing embryo) and a guaranteed plan (with egg donation) that includes an unlimited number of egg donations, embryo transfers and a number of surrogate matches – until success, a full pregnancy protocol and legal support.

Israel: Since 1996, Israel allows heterosexual couples to undergo surrogacy. The couple must be residents of Israel between the ages of 18-54 and pass a committee of the Ministry of Health before being accepted into the program. In addition, the intended parents must be of the same religion as the surrogate.

Argentina: Heterosexual couples can undergo a surrogacy procedure in Argentina whether they are married or not. The Argentina route is in collaboration with the CELAGEM clinic, which offers a high-quality and professional procedure at affordable costs. The intended parents can choose from 3 plans:

Personalized Basic Plan: A plan designed for expectant parents with existing embryos or who wish to produce embryos from the intended mother’s egg.
Intended parents will pay according to the progress of the process.

Guaranteed plan until birth: plan with a fixed cost that includes screening, examinations and financial compensation with regard to the surrogate and the egg donor, a medical procedure that includes sperm donation, egg extraction, IVF, embryo retrieval and medications as needed, pregnancy monitoring, birth (natural/C-section) including birth expenses and hospitalization of the surrogate and the baby, insurance for the surrogate and the baby and legal support that includes registration the baby.

Double guaranteed plan until birth: two guaranteed procedures with fixed and known costs in advance – until birth.

Mexico: The surrogacy procedure in Mexico offers intended parents an affordable and safe solution. Among the plans are: a plan for existing embryos (payment according to the progress of the process), a guarantee plan until birth and a double guarantee plan (with egg donation, as needed) until success.

In all routes, the intended parents will benefit from personal accompaniment by the Tammuz team and parenting preparation workshops led by professionals and experts.

Surrogacy for Heterosexual Couples

If you’ve been trying to have a child and it hasn’t happened the way you hoped, surrogacy can still bring you there. We’ve walked this road with couples since 2008, and we’re here to walk it with you too.

Before surrogacy, there's usually a story

Most couples we meet have already been through a lot — years of treatments, maybe a loss along the way, or a diagnosis that changed what’s possible. By the time surrogacy comes into the picture, you’re often tired, and you just want someone who can tell you honestly what your options actually are.

That’s really what we do. We sit down with you, understand your medical history and what matters to you, and help you see the path that fits — whether that means using your own egg and sperm, needing a donor, or something in between. You don’t have to arrive with all the answers.

Since 2008, we’ve supported more than 2,200 births — and for each of those families, it was its own journey. We walk it hand in hand with you, from the first conversation to the day you bring your baby home.

Georgia

The surrogacy process in Georgia is well-established and experienced, permitted under local law, and intended exclusively for heterosexual couples. They must be married or have maintained a shared household for at least one year. This destination offers high-quality medical procedures alongside geographic proximity, combined with long-standing legal stability that enables immediate recognition of the intended parents.

USA

Surrogacy in the USA is well-established and legal in many states. Our attractive programs have been developed based on nearly twenty years of experience by the Tamuz Family in the United States, with the birth of hundreds of babies through successful surrogacy processes. You can choose between programs with existing embryos or comprehensive, secure programs that include egg donation through to birth.

Mexico

Surrogacy in Mexico has been legal for several years and offers legal stability alongside uncompromising medical care. Intended parents can choose between egg retrieval programs, existing embryo programs, or comprehensive secure programs (including egg donation).

Colombia

Surrogacy in Colombia has been legal for several years and offers cost-effective surrogacy programs without compromising on quality. Intended parents can choose between egg retrieval programs, existing embryo programs, or comprehensive programs through to birth (including egg donation).

Every couple’s situation is a little different, so the right country really does depend on your history and what matters most to you. That’s a conversation we’d rather have directly than try to answer in general terms.

How Does the Surrogacy Process Work?

Building your family through surrogacy involves many important stages, from medical treatment and legal procedures to matching, pregnancy, birth, and returning home with your baby. At Tammuz, we coordinate the entire journey on your behalf across the destinations that suit heterosexual couples — Georgia, Armenia, the US, and Mexico — bringing together experienced professionals while providing continuous guidance, communication, and support every step of the way.

Consultation and Plan Selection

We begin by understanding your situation as a couple  your medical history, whether you have existing embryos or want to use your own egg and sperm, and what matters most to you. Together, we identify the destination and plan to explore, and the documents you'll need for review, including proof of marriage or partnership where a program requires it.

01

Embryo Preparation and Matching

You complete the required forms and documentation. If you already have embryos from previous IVF, they're reviewed for shipment and transfer; if not, we help you select an egg and/or sperm donor and create embryos through IVF. Once the relevant requirements are met, you begin the surrogate-matching process.

02

Embryo Transfer and Pregnancy

Your surrogate is medically prepared for embryo transfer. After the transfer, pregnancy testing and early scans are completed. Once pregnancy is confirmed, you receive updates while your surrogate continues with prenatal monitoring.

03

Birth Preparation and Delivery

Throughout the pregnancy, you receive medical reports and updates while your surrogate follows the defined prenatal-care protocol. As the birth approaches, we help you prepare for travel, hospital arrangements, accommodation, and the practical steps that follow delivery.

04

Birth Registration and Returning Home

After your baby is born, the local team coordinates the documentation required to register your baby, subject to the legal process specific to your destination. We continue supporting the practical process while you complete the citizenship, passport, exit, and travel requirements that apply to your family.

Frequently Asked Questions About Surrogacy For Straight Couples

We have gathered all the answers to the most important and frequently asked questions, so you can find clear, reliable, and up-to-date information—all in one place, in a simple and convenient way.

Is surrogacy right for us?

If you’ve faced fertility challenges that make carrying a pregnancy difficult or impossible, it might be. It really comes down to your medical history and what you’re hoping for — something we talk through with you rather than decide in the abstract.

Often, yes. Georgia, Armenia, the US, and Mexico all have an existing-embryos pathway as part of their program models, subject to clinic and legal review — and FDA documentation if you’re shipping from the US. We’ll help you figure out whether your embryos meet the requirements for the destination you’re considering.

Some of our programs include the Tammuz Guarantee Program, which covers unlimited attempts until a live birth, subject to the program agreement, eligibility requirements, medical conditions, and exclusions. It doesn’t mean every attempt succeeds — it means you’re not left starting over on your own if one doesn’t. We’ll go through exactly what’s included before you choose a program.

Families recommend Tammuz

For nearly two decades, we have earned the trust of thousands of families from around the world—men, women, same-sex couples, and individuals—who chose us as partners in the most meaningful journey of their lives.
